What is "information literacy"?
Students attend Library Skills classes from grades PK-8 at Caravel Academy and are taught information literacy skills.
But what is information literacy? According to the American Library Association, "Information Literacy is the set of skills needed to find, retrieve, analyze, and use information." Information literacy skills teach students how to know when they need information and how to find it in a complex information age.

Mike Regan, B.A. East Asian Studies
Mr. Mike Regan is Caravel's Upper School Librarian. A University of Delaware graduate ('01) in East Asian Studies, he has been proudly serving students & staff in the Upper School Library since 2014 when he started out as the Library Assistant. During his tenure at Caravel Academy, Mr. Regan has also taught Health & Physical Education courses. And prior to becoming the Upper School Librarian, he even coached basketball at Caravel for 17 years.
Working in the Upper School Library is Mr. Regan's dream job! Empowering students to research with confidence, accurately cite sources, embrace challenges, and discover endless wonders between the pages of our books is what makes being a Librarian so rewarding.
In his spare time, Mr. Regan enjoys reading, playing video games, exercising, and researching the paranormal...that's right, if there is a ghost, monster, or ET in sight, it would be to Mr. Regan's delight! (Wow, who knew Mr. Regan was such a great poet?!)
